BACCARAT WAILEA ultra-luxury resort, the first Starwood Capital's new brand based on fine French crystal, will have 13 buildings with 193 one-bedroom to four-bedroom condominiums on a 15-acre beachfront property. Prices range from $1.8 million for a one-bedroom unit to over $9 million for a three-bedroom beachfront unit with its own plunge pool. This project has already hit $300 million in sales during its recent initial offering. "We knew that Wailea was the perfect backdrop for this property, but the sales results exceeded our expectations," said Gary Raymond, managing director of Starwood Development. "The overwhelming response showed us there is demand in Hawaii for ultra-luxury properties." The resort will be built at the site of the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort, which is slated to close this fall. The Baccarat resort is expected to open in 2010.
